Application: N,N-Dimethylpropionamide is used in organic synthesis and as a pharmaceutical intermediate.

General method: Carboxylic acid (0.3 mmol), catalyst (5 mol%), Xantphos (10 mol%), K₂S₂O₈ (2 equivalents), and N,N-dimethylformamide (2 mL) were added to a 20 mL reaction tube. After sealing the reaction tube, the mixture was stirred at 160 °C for 12 hours or until the reaction was complete. After the reaction was complete, the mixture was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to remove the solvent. The crude product was purified by silica gel column chromatography using n-hexane-ethyl acetate (1:1, v/v) as the eluent.
